Mindful Birthing: A Nine-Week Mindfulness Based Childbirth Ed Series
Sundays from 4-5:30 pm, September 21-November 16
Join other expectant parents to learn, build community, and practice evidence-based life skills for pregnancy, birth, and parenting in this nine-week Mindful Birthing course. The Mindful Birthing approach is modeled on Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, an evidence-based program that has been proven to help individuals manage stress, improve self care, and have an increased sense of well being and presence in everyday life.
This is a comprehensive childbirth education and preparation course. Throughout the nine week series, participants will learn about the physiology of birth, stages of labor, and how to use self-advocacy and informed decision making to have a more supported and satisfying birth.
You will also learn to:
Engage the mind to work with pain during labor
Increase confidence and courage for the experience of labor and birth
Develop skills for managing stress in pregnancy, parenting, and daily life
Enhance partner communication skills
Become more aware of your own approach to parenting
No previous experience with meditation or mindfulness is necessary. In each class we will practice mindfulness techniques that participants can deepen at home if they would like. We will discuss how and why these techniques have been proven to be effective for pregnancy, birth, and parenting. The class is designed for birthing people and a support person (partner, family member, or friend).
